POLICE REACH SAMOA. The auxiliary police from New Zealand have arrived at Samoa. BILLIARDS MATCH.—A billiards match, 18,000 up. between Clark McConachy (New Zealand) and Walter Lindrum was commenced at Sydney yesterday. At the end of the afternoon session the scores were:—Lindrum (in play). 750; McConachy, 310. The best breaks were: Lindrum, 78, 310, 103; McConachy, 100. So far both competitors are playing mediocre billiards. DAVIS CUP TENNIS. Japan 'von the rubber in the Davis ''up match against Cuba. Ohta and Toba, Japan, defeated Bonet and Paris, k—3. s—g, 4—(j 9—7, Japan had already won two singles matches.
