A new edition of the “Iwanta” road guide, dealing particularly with trips within a radius of 25 miles of Auckland, has recently been published. * * * A by-law to prohibit the washing, tuning or repairing of ears on the roads is under consideration by the Mount Eden Borough Council. The deposit of 10s 6d paid for A.A.A. badges is not refundable, but is a hire fee entitling the member to the use of the badge during the whole term of his membership.’ Famous for its “Red Seal” motors, the Continental Motor Co. (United States) lias acquired the American rights for the famous British Argyle engine, a single-sleeve valved motor. It is expected the engine will appear in several popoular United States cars this year. * * * Mrs. Sanford, who recently made an adventurous trip across unknown parts of Australia in an Essex coach car, intends to attempt the Cape to Cairo journey, following the “All Red” ■ route. Cyclists without lights and without rear reflectors are becoming quite a nuisance on the road between Ngaruawahia and Hamilton. * * * The three-litre Stuta designed by Frank Lockhart for the world’s record attempt at Daytona Beach, U.S.A., has an ice-cooled storage tank in place of a radiator. * * * The American Automobile Chamber of Commerce has analysed the costs of exporting cars of all types and has found that the cost of boxing a car ready for shipment averages about £ 10. * * * Michigan, the centre of the world’s automotive industry, is one of two States in the United States which have abolished motor-car. speed limits. Instead they have made the roads safe for high seed driving by providing oneway roads, banked turns and eliminating “blind” turns or crossings.
