APRIL MARRIAGES

DECREASE IN STATISTICS April this year was not as popular a month for marriage in Auckland as it was in 1927. There were 21 less, the figures being 1927, 204; 1928, IS3. Births and deaths were also fewer. The births were 254, against 253, and the deaths 127 against 129. Of the marriages, 44 took place in the registrar's office, being one less than in April, 1927. Since the beginning of the year there have been 1,147 births, compared with 1.217, 527 deaths compared with 5i3, and 724 marriages as compared with the same figure. Of the marriages, 159 took place at the registrar's office, against 171 in the previous corresponding period.
