MR. M. B. ROUTLY One of Pukekohe’s early pioneer* Mr. Moses Bone Routly, died on Sunday, at the age of 77 years. Born in Cornwall, he and his cam© to New Zealand in the sailing ship Lancashire Witch, in the year 1866. Surviving members of the family recollect the passage, it being * particularly rough one, the vessel nearly foundering when some days out of Auckland. Mr. Routly later returned to hi parents, who in the meantime had acquired a farm In the Paerata district, and in the following: years he was en gaged in pioneering: work on their Pukekohe Hill property. The deceased was for a number of years a member of the Drury Lignt Horse, and later of the Pukekohe Mounted Infantry. Mr. Routly is survived by a brothei Mr. Matthew Routly, and a sister. Miss M. J. Routly, both of Pukekohe. MR. M. J. ROGERS An old identity of Patumahoe, Mi Matthew John Rogers, died in the Auckland Hospital last week, at thr age of 78 years. A native of London, he emigrated to New Zealand some 50 years baek, and was engaged in agricultural pursuits until a short time ago. He is survived by one son.
