In the Davis Cup match between Japan and Cuba at Havana, Teitzoba, Japan, defeated Vincent Banet, 6—l, 6—l, i;—3, and Yoshiro Ohta, Japan, defeated Rogerlio, Paris, 6—l, 6—2, 6—2. * * * In a professional golf match in Britain over 36 holes between A. E. Compston. England, and Walter Hagen, of America, the former won. The winner's driving was tremendous. He was often 50 yards ahead of his opponent and was only once off the course. In an amateur international Association match at Glasgow Scotland defeated England by 3 goals to 2. At Sydney the New South Wales Rugby players who visited England, the Waratahs, defeated the Rest of New South Wales by 28 points to 17. * * * The race for the women’s four-oared half-mile championship of Australia resulted as follows: New South Wales, 1; South Australia, 2: Queensland, 3. Won by two lengths. Time, 3.33 1-5. The women's ane-mile sculling championship of New South Wales was won by Miss Field in 6.59 4-5. * * * In the British professional billiards match Davis (in play} had scored 6,667 and Newman 4,928 on Saturday.
