sir George Elliot returned to Auckland this morning from Wellington. Tjr Bowerbank travelled from Wellington by the Limited this morning. jj r , E. C. Page, chief telegraph engineer returned from the South this morning by the Limited. Mr. L. Mcllvride, secretary of the aSRSS, arrived from Wellington this morning by the Limned. Mr. B. B. Wood travelled as far as Frankton Junction this morning on the Limited from Wellington. Major-General R. Young, G.O.C. New Zealand Forces, returned to Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. F. W. Furkert, Engineer-in-Chief to the Public Works Department, is visiting Whangarei. He will return to Auckland on Tuesday. Mr. W. Goodfellow, managing director of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, also returned from Wellington this morning. Mr. Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. V. Shipway, chief representative in Australia and New Zealand for Dodge Brothers’ Motors, is visiting Auckland. He is on a brief business visit to the Dominion.
The Rev. F. H. Hay man left by the Marama yesterday for Sydney, on his way to the Solomon Islands, where he is to take charge of the Methodist Training College at Roviana.
The Hon. W. Downie Stewart, Minister of Finance, will leave Wellington on Sunday night for Cambridge, where he is to deliver a speech on Monday night, and mak© a statement dealing with the country’s finances, based on the figures for the financial year just closed.
Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, K.C.8., K.C.M.G., Dominion president of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, gave an address at Ashburton at the Anzac Day celebrations on Wednesday. He returned to Christchurch on Thursday, and gave an address at the annual meeting of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association.
Mr. P. Hally, conciliation commissioner, will leave Auckland to-morrow evening for Wellington, where he will hear the dispute of the theatrical employees, and also that of the building plasterers. At Palmerston North, later in the week, Mr. Hally will hear the dispute of the butchers. He will return to Auckland during the week-end.
