UNEMPLOYMENT INCREASE

THIS WEEK’S FIGURES A large increase in unemployment is shown by figures supplied by the Labour Department this morning, the total number of men out of work being 984 compared with 859 last week. Of the total of men out of work 867 ar9 classed as fit for heavy work and 117 as suitable for light work. Last week’s figures were 758 and 101 respectively. During the week 30 men were placed in work compared with 176 for the week ending April 21.
