MEAT FOR FRANCE

ARGENTINE INTERESTS Members of the French Parliament have been seeking increased duties or the imported frozen meat in the ininterests of the French cattle industry. It is stated that representations have been promptly made by the Argentine Meat Companies through the Argentine Ebassy in Paris against such an increase. It is also stated that the French Premier has promised to consider these representations. For some time the Argentine has been sending practically all of its frozen beef to the Continent, and sending only chilled to England. In both France and Germany the agrarian interests are asking for increased duties against imported meat, but on the other hand the consumers in those countries are against such increases.
