PINNED UNDER CAR
SMASH AT TAIHAPE MOTORIST BADLY HURT LOST LEFT EYE AND FRACTURED JAW (From Our Own Correspondent) TAIHAPE, To-day. Walter Warren and Robert Boyd were admitted to the Taihape Hospital early this morning, suffering from serious injuries as the result of a car accident at Bennett's Siding, on the Mataroa Road.
A two-seater car in which they were riding skidded, left the road, and crashed into a fence 50ft down a dangerous incline. Boyd was pinned beneath, and Warren, in a dazed condition, crawled 200 yards for assistance.
Dr. Hay attended the two men. Warren had his left eye so seriously injured that it had to be removed. He also suffered a fractured upper jaw and nose. His condition is serious.
Boyd suffered a strained back, shock and abrasions. The car was extensively damaged.
