IS VICTOR SEASTROM IN AUSTRALIA?
FILM MEN SCEPTICAL NEW PRODUCER’S CLAIM Australia’s film men are very interested just now in the presence in Melbourne of Mr. Albert O. Bradshaw. "Vf R. RALPH DOYLE, general manager of United Artists (Australasia), Ltd., denied that his company was co-operating in any way with Mr. Bradshaw, who, when interviewed, said he was representing the Fine Art Motion Picture Company, Ltd., which was about to produce three pictures in Australia. The managing director of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Ltd., Mr. N. B. Freeman, also said that he wished
definitely to refute any suggestion that “Metro,” or, as it is to-day, 'Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer,” was in any way associated with the Fine Art Motion Picture Company, Ltd. Mr. Bradshaw, in Sydney, said that he had not given authority for either United tfrtists or Metro Motion Picture Corporations to be mentioned in connection with his project in Australia. He gave a broad outline of Fine Art Motion Picture Company, fetd.’s, policy in Australia, and stated
that he would give a further account in a few days ; when the various negotiations for distributions were completed.
In an interview, Mr. Bradshaw claimed that the Fine Art Motion Picture Company, Ltd., of Hollywood, "as about to produce three pictures in Australia, and that Mr. Victor Seastrom, the noted producer, was in Australia in connection with the undertaking. The managing director of the Union Theatres, Mr. W. A. Gibson, "’hose producing firm —Australasian Films —made “For the Term of His Natural Life/* and other pictures, very sceptical about Mr. Bradshaw’s mission.
‘lf Mr. Victor Seastrom is in Australia, as stated by Mr. Bradshaw, he has very cleverly remained undiscovered. Not a single person in the nlm world in Melbourne was aware was here.”
