MEMBER RESIGNS BEATEN BY ONE VOTE Press Association. PAHIATUA, To-day. The Pahiatua Borough by-election, caused by the resignation of Mr. Daniel Moriarty, held yesterday resulted In Mr. F. J. Bourke being returned by one vote —Bourke 205 and Moriarty 204. .. Mr. Bourke was a member of the previous council, and Mr. Moriarty had resigned his seat as a protest against the action of the works committee over letting a smajl contract. More than half the electors did not vote.
