KING MERY'S MISSION
THE comeback staged at Avondale last week by King Merv was most convincing, for He beat a useful field. At Te Rapa to-morrow the old fellow is in two races—the open mile and the big sprint—and in each his task promises to be difficult. It is more than likely that King Merv will be sent for the Puketaha High-weight, for this is run over his best distance. If this surmise is correct, then King Merv will not lack support, for he will have the assistance of his trainer in the saddle, and in A. Tinker he could not have a better jockey. Bert Tinker has done exceedingly well since setting up as a public trainer, and there is no doubt that what success he has gained has been well earned. With King Merv and Mervette in good form now, it is more than probable that Tinker’s winning record will be further extended this week-end.
