SHIP STILL ASHORE
STEAMER STEELMAKER CARGO JETTISONED Special to Press Association. —By Wireless Reed. 11.40 a.m. APIA, Monday. The American steamer Steelmaker is still ashore at Nukulailai, in the Ellice group. Her cargo of 5.000 tons has been jettisoned. The San Francisco salvage vessel Peacock reached Nukulailai on Saturday evening, and found the Steelmaker aground in four feet of water at the bow in high water, but afloat aft from the fire-room. Heavy swells since Wednesday have apparently strained the stranded vessel.
