RANGI AND “BOB”
UNLUCKY MEETING WHO STOLE THE TROUSERS? Rangi Roto, aged 27, told a magistrate to-day that he purchased a pair of trousers yesterday for half-a-crown. The police, however, had different ideas, and Roto was charged at the Police Court to-day with stealing a pair of trousers valued at £ 210 s. Chief-Detective Hammond said that accused and another man went into a shop to have a pair of trousers pressed. The owner of the shop found later that an additional pair of trousers was missing. The accused said that he had met a man named Bob yesterday. Not knowing that the trousers were stolen, he purchased them from “Bob” for 2s 6d. The case was adjourned until Friday to enable “Bob“ to be found.
