HAMILTON NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Monday. Mrs. Balcombe Brown, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. F. M. Spencer, in Hamilton, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. Hazard, of Auckland, Is a guest of Mrs. S. Quick, in Claudelands. Mrs. C. H. Williams is in New Plymouth for a few days, where she is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Gray. Miss Wyn Manning went to Auckland on Thursday to take up Karitane work. Mrs. Duthie, of Auckland. Is at present in Hamilton at the Waikato Hotel. The Misses Simcocks, of Auckland, are at present staying at the Hamilton Hotel. Mrs. C. Newson has been spending a few days in Hamilton on her way through from a holiday in New Plymouth. She returned to Rotorua on Saturday. Mrs. A. Meldrum, who has been staying with Mrs. A. Beale for a few days, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. W. J. Hunter, Miss Hunter and Miss Cushla Hunter have returned to Hamilton from Auckland, where they spent the summer months. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson, of Pahiatua, who have been visiting Hamilton, have left for Taupo. M.rs. Bailey is an Auckland visitor at the Waikato Hotel. Mrs. P. A. Stevens is holidaying in Tauranga, where she is visiting her son. Mrs. Curtis, of Auckland, is, in Hamilton for a few days. Miss P. Donovan, from Wellington, is a guest at the Grand Central Hotel. Mrs. E. Davenport, of Te Kuiti. is visiting her sister, Mrs. A. McCracken. Mrs. Tonks has come from Taranaki to spend the winter with her daughter, Mrs. T. Milroy, in Hamilton. Mrs. Colin Taylor has gone to Napier to be present at the marriage of Miss Avril Strachan to Dr. Cecil Brewis.
Mrs. IT. Thomson, of South Africa, has been visiting Dr. and M.rs. A. S. Brewis. She leaves to-day for Napier to be present at her nephew, Dr. Cecil Brewis’s, marriage. Miss Riro Brewis, of Hamilton, has gone to Napier for the BrewisStrachan wedding. Mrs. R. ITeald will leave for Auckland with Mr. and M.rs. A. A. Hawker early this week. Mrs. Mander is at present in Te Aroha. Mrs. E. Gahagan, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Messana, has returned to Auckland. Mrs. A. Beale was the recipient of a beautiful supper cloth at the last meeting of the Hamilton Plunket Society. The cloth had been given by Mrs. J. Page, hon. secretary of tho society, for the member, who, during the year, secured the greatest number of new members. FAREWELL PARTY On Thursday afternoon Mrs. Frank Cooper gave a very pleasant party for Mrs. Percy Field, who is going to live m Matamata. Th© other guests present included Mesdames Fow, P. J - Reid, McLean, Gordon, A. Jackson > Parsons. Mai fell, Waite and Darlington, and Miss I. Fow. During the afternoon the Rev. P. Paris, who was also a guest, asked Mrs. Field to accept a small clock as a token of remembrance from her friends present. A very jolly time was spent in competitions, the winners being Mrs P Page and Mrs. A. Smith. ‘ ’ GOLF AT CAMBRIDGE The Cambridge Golf Club had a most successful opening on Saturday afternoon, when the president, Mr. R Hannon, and Mrs. Hannon enter-’ tamed over 100 guests at afternoon •* T h ® clu b-house had been exquisitely decorated with flowers by Mrs Mervyn Wells and Mrs. Lee and throughout the afternoon the traditional spirit of Cambridge hospitality and camaraderie prevailed There were 44 entries for the mixed foursomes, which resulted in a tie be * w ?l- n Mrs ' Nolan and Mr. Roland and Miss Jackson and Mr. Alford. In “® play ' off Mrs - Nolan and Mr. Roland won. The greatest interest was displayed in the approaching and putting contest, the winners being Mrs. Mahoney and Captain Moorhouse.
