DEATH OF MOTOR-CYCLIST
COMPANION LOSES MEMORY EVIDENCE AT INQUEST (From Ojur Own Correspondent.) WHANG ARBI, To-day. All memory of the accident in which he was injured has been lost by E. Hall, a young man who was riding pillion on a motorcycle, when his companion, William Lyall Olsen, was killed in a collision with a taxi-car at Whangarei on March 14. This fact was mentioned when the inquest concerning Olsen's death was concluded to-day. It was stated that Hall fracturcid his skull and was admitted to the hospital. • He was unconscious for several days and slowly recovered, and was discharged from hospital on April 14. His memory of the accident was entirely blank, and the medical superintendent thinks it is unlikely to be restored. The evidence showed that the taxidriver took proper precautions when turning across the main road, and that deceased, without any light, or giving any warning, crashed into the car. A verdict of accidental death due to shock and a fractured skull received in a collision was returned, no blame being attachable to the taxi-driver.
