HARD LUCK
rwas decidely bad luck for the connections of the trotting mars Elego that she went amiss on the eve of the Te Aroha fixture, as she was showing improved form sufficient to encourage her owner in the hope of victory. The daughter of Gold Bell—Lady Vola has not been long at the racing business, but she gave a pleasing display at Thames, and many followers of the game had ticked her off as a big possibility at Te Aroha. Before the day of the heats Elego put in a splendid work-out and her party was prepared to collect. but a slight mishap compelled the mare to remain in the box on race day. Next season Elego will not be long in getting out of hack company.
