NEW MEMBER WELCOMED TO ARBITRATION COURT
EMPLOYERS’ REPRESENT ATiVE Legal and industrial interests welcomed Mr. G. T. Booth, the new employers’ representative on the Arbitration Court, when the court sat in Auckland this morning. Mr Booth promised his earnest and just consideration of all questions before the court. Mr. S. r.. Wi rhl Auckland Employers’ Association, expressed the pleasure of employers at Mr. Booth’s elevation to the court. Mr. R. McVeagh voiced th** sentiments of the Bar, and promised the court all possible assistance in facilitating its work. It was felt in the Bar that Mr. Booth’s ervices would be instrumental in judicial and impartial decisions. Mr. A. tl<»sßi r, la Um Knl Labour, said that he had observed tl ■ advent of every employers’ representative during the last 30 years. He mentioned the coincidence of the industrial conference in Wellington to discuss the court’s fate, and expressed the sincere wish that if the system were altered it would still be mandatory and not optional. A welcome from the Labour Department was also extended to Mr. Booth. His experience of industrial affairs had extended over practically his whole life. The pleasure of the court itself at Air. Booth’s ascension was v. iced by Mr. Justice Frazer.
