Clarence Demur, aged 39. won the American marathon for the sixth time. His time was 2 hours 3? minutes 7 seconds. Demur's victory was the greatest of his career, as he outdistanced the finest field of track athletes ever assembled in America. The hopes of the United States for the Olympic Marathon are considerably raised by Demur's performance.
