DAMAGE IN QUEENSLAND Great Storm in the West (United P.4. —By Telegraph—Cop ■ right ■ Reed. 9.30 a.w. BRISBANE. To-Ua.' OWING to the floods, the South Brisbane wharves are devoid of shipping. The Esperauce Bay and the Orama were a day late in leaving port, as the result of the Hood waters, and the former was compelled to leave 17.000 of butter on the wharf.

TYEBRIS in large quantities is floating down the river, menacing navigation. Shopkeepers are bus}' removing goods from their cellars in anticipation of further floods. It is expected that the Brisbane River will reach its highest level to-night. Reports from country centres indicate that the flood waters are receding. Great damage has been caused, many farmers losing their entire crops. Also, there is extensive damage to roads and bridges. Reed. 9.30 a.m. PERTH. To-day. A terrific storm in the Bilbarrin and Kulin districts wrought havoc to wheat stacks, and razed many buildings. Sheets of iron were carried many miles in the air.

Telephone lines are down in all directions. Heavy damage to farm properties was caused. No casualties are reported. SYDNEY. Friday. At Murwillumbah, 407 miles north <•; Sydney, the residential area has been invaded by the Tweed River, the waters of which rose alarmingly lai« j yesterday. The countryside for miles around is a huge lake. People have discarded their ordin ary dress and are going about in bath ing suits. Incessant rain at Richmond for four days has swollen all the creeks and rivers at Richmond ami ' Lismore. and they are 12ft above nor mal height.
