“ANOTHER instance of an act■*r*~ tress arriving in London by way of Australia” is how an Eng I i s h newspaper describes Marie Burke’s selection for the leading role in “Showboat” at Drury Lane.
This theatre, which for the past few years has staged elaborate musical comedies, i s under the management of Sir Alfred Butt. <‘Rose Marie” and “The Desert Song” were two of the biggest successes there. The musical show in which Miss t ßurke is to play is taken from Edna Ferber’s novel of that name.
