PARAMOUNT STAR Douglas Mac Lean was born a Philadelphia, Pa, and is the son ©f tb* Rev. G. C. Mac Lean, D.D. IfacLeu received his education in Northwestern University Preparatory Schoc and the Lewis Institute of Technotor in Chicago. With a stage career v his objectice Mac Lean enrolled in famous American Academy of Drastic Ants, in New York. Upon h-' graduation from this institution hwork attracted the attention of MatrtAdams, who engaged him to play opposite her in “Rosalind,” a stage fantasy Later D. W. Griffith chose him for ‘ leading role in a war picture, whicled to two successive leading roles opposite Mary Pickford. As a result c Mac Lean’s popularity' the late Thorus H. Ince elevated him to stardom. first vehicle was “Twenty-Three **• a-Half Hours Leave.” The succesof this picture was followed by other, among which were “The Jail Bird “Passing Thru,” “Bell Boy 13,” Hottentot,” “Going Up,” “The Tan**-’ Consul,” “Never Say Die,” and “Introduce Me.” After the latter prodcf' tion he was signed to release hi* I* tures through Paramount, amorgjj* 5 ; are “Seven Keys to Baldpate,” “TnaMy Baby,” “Hold That Lion." and £ [lt Rain.” Mac Lean is married, and .- I favourite sports are golf and swiffi ming.
