SEA-EGG CATCHERS MEET AN OCTOPUS

NARROW NECK CAPTURE

Searching for sea-eggs Alan Farn- \\ orth and Raymond Allen went out to Narrow Neck reef at low tide yesterday and encountered an octopus. Farnworth was on the rocks in the edge of a pool when he felt a slimy tentaele move across his bare feet. He immediately called his mate, and attacked with a crab spear, the octopus being unable to escape from the pool. The two egg-hunters, aged 18 and 17, respectively, decided to catch the octopus, and finally got a line round one of its tentacles and then round the head. They then hauled it to the shore in triumph.
