WHO SAID WAR?
Rip Van Winkle Stirs After 20 Years of Rest LOST FOR LOVE OF A LAD') Rip Van Winkle, 192$ model, has been found in a Yugoslavian village. Twenty-two years ago the local , squire, a handsome young man. disappeared. It was known that he was hopelessly in love with a Viennese beauty and it was thought that he had ; gone abroad to bury his unhappiness. His house stood deserted with the roof falling in. until one of the in heritors of the property decided to repair the building. Then, in a comfortless attic, was found the squire himself, now a man of 50 with a flov - ing white beard. For 22 years he had lived in the one room, an old servant-caretaker supplying -bin with bread. He knew a little about he motorcar, but marvelled that to-day men fly in the air. Rip Van Winkle 192 S had not heard of the Great War, and was amazed that the Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria was not still alive. What he thinks of Miss 1925. as compared with long-skirted and waspwaisted Miss 1906. he has not yet found words to express.
