LABOUR WOMEN OPPOSE COMPULSORY TRAINING

DOMINION-WIDE CAMPAIGN With the view of setting in motion a Dominion-wide campaign for the abolition of compulsory military training the Auckand women’s branch of the New Zealand Labour Party has decided to call a public meeting at an early date. THE decision was arrived at during a, meeting of the branch in the Trades Hall. The following committee was set up, with power to act:Mesdames Soljak (president), Gibson. Cassie, Harrison, and Crookshank. The secretary was instructed to communicate with Miss Alice Basten in connection with the appointment delegates from the branch to the forthcoming meeting of Miss Maud Royden, the noted lecturer. It was decided to hold a jumble salin the Trades Hall toward the end of May, to assist the branch funds. Mrs. Cassie, delegate to the general conference, gave a comprehensive report of work carried out.
