SEASON OPENED PLAY. DINNER. DANCE The official opening of the 1< season was held at the Titirangi links of the Maungakiekie Golf Club at noon to-day. Weather conditions were not the , best, but there was the usual large S owing to the course alterations, which were viewed with interest and anticipation by the players. The president. Mr. G. Lawrence Taylor drove the first ball of the season from the first tee at 12 o’clock. Play in the opening day. mixed foursomes followed. A dinner followed by a dance in the club house is the order for this evening. when there will also be hrid.se tables and billiards. Waiuku Women A very successful opening of th Waiuku Ladies’ Golf Club was held on Wednesday in the presence of a large number of visitors, including some from the Pukekohe and Evers - lie Clubs. The captain. Mrs. J. Forbes, welcomed the visitors. Canadian foursomes were played and resulted in a win for Miss Burnaby and Mrs. C. C. Munro. who returned a net csrd of 37. Te Puke Club (From Our Otcn Correspondent J TE PUKE, Friday. The annual general meeting of the Te Puke Golf Club was held last evening. Mr. Hookey presiding over a fair attendance of members. The election of officers for the ensuing season resulted as follows: Patrons. Messrs. J. Brown and T. P. Lemon; president, Mr. E. Hookey; vicepresident. Mr. E. Westlake; secretary. Mr. L. Worsley; treasurer. Mr. D. C. Johnson; committee. Mesdames Cashmore, Perring, Misses Rogers. N. D. Watson. Messrs. A exander, Douglas and Eecleton. Sixteen new members were elected. It was decided that the official opening should take place on the first Saturday in May. The links, however, will be open for play bgfore that date. Whakatane Club (Special to THB SUNj OPOTIKI, Thursday. A large number of new members were accepted at the annual meeting of the Whakatane Ladies' Golf Club, at which there was a good attendance. It was decided to favour a proposal that the servicers of a coach be secured. Officers for the ensuing year wern elected as follow:—Club captain, Mrs. Sloane; secretary. Miss Black: committee, Mrs. Buddie, Mrs. Clark. Miss Grant.
