ALL the low-lying parts in Brisbane are now under water, r and floods are being experienced in all the creeks and rivers of the Darling Downs. At Warwick, Horace Barnett, while attempting to cross a creek, was swept away and drowned.
the creeks in the Maleny district are in high flood, and fears are entertained for the safety of the main traffic bridge at Cooroy. A. heavy landslide in the Esk district, near Moore, blocked the railway line and the creeks of the Esk are carrying a greater volume of water than in 1893. The floods of the Stanley River at Royston are 18ft over the railway bridge, and the Brisbane River at
Mummurba is 46ft over the bridge, and is rising two feet hourly. An earlier message from Brisbane says violent rainstorms in Queensland in the last few days have caused the isolation of many coastal towns where : 9in of rain have fallen. The Bowen bridge in Brisbane is submerged 2ft. l The town of Woodford, on the Upper Brisbane River, is partially sub- . merged, the flood being the highest ' for 13 years.
