NEW CLUBS ENTERING
Under the presidency of Miss P. H. Dawson, the annual meeting of the Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association, held last evening, -was negotiated in something lilce record time. Arrangements were finalised for the opening of the season, which has been fixed for May 5. Entries for the competitions close on April 30. The report and balance sheet, as previously published in The Sun, were adopted. The reading of the annual report and balance sheet of the New Zealand Ladies’ Hockey Association occupied 15 minutes. New clubs entering this year are; Inter-House, Auckland Girls’ AthleticAssociation, ,Technical College Past students’ Association, Papatoetoe, Play Association. Wesley Club is entering another team. It was agreed to apply to the Dominion Association for the annual tournament to bo held at Auckland. Miss Dawson said that the tourney had never yet been held in Auckland, but there was every possibility that the request would be granted this year. In recognition of the services of Miss A. Twiname and Miss Z. Twining, secx'etary and treasurer respectively, Miss P. Howard, chairman of the executive, made each a presentation. A resolution was carried expressing the association’s gratitude to Mrs. Grant Co wen, one of its vice-presi-dents, who had given valued service for many years.
