ENGLISH CUP FINAL
EYES ON WEMBLEY TO-MORROW to be in England, now that April’s here!” once sang a ; bard, and Soccer enthusiasts the world over, who have been units among the hundred thousand odd enjoying the thrills of a Cup final, would like to wend their way Wembley-wards to-morrow. The War of the Roses will be battled out again, and the North Country invasion of London will begin at dawn. Huddersfield will do battle for Yorkshire, while Blackburn Rovers will flaunt the Red Rose of Lancaster. Hundreds of thousands will be unable to gain admission, i but princes and peers, miners and mill-hands, clerks, and costers, will be there to cheer the winners of “T’Coop.” Usually the game is a poor display of Soccer; the strain is too intense, and the teams are over-anxious and jumpy. The player who blunders gets a blast that fairly shrivels him; a foul brings a howl of execration that would unnerve the most callous criminal. A goal scorer is a hero in the seventh heaven, and brings great joy and profit to the hattersThere is a prolonged roar as the final whistle sounds, and the huge crowd melts away silently for another year. !
