Manassa Mauler Gives Fighting Game Best A FAMOUS RECORD Jack Dempsey says that lie has given the boxing game best, so once again, one who has made sporting history in no mild form steps from the pedestal and disappears from the glare of the limelight. His record in the ring, the bigger part of which consists of world-stir-ring victories and smashing K.O.’s. can only be gazed at, and admired, by all true fighting fans. A series of knock-out victories brought Jack intp the circle of pugilistic fame and earned for him the name of “Manassa Mauler.” He was
a fighter, making no pretence at boxing, and behind either hand he liad a heap of power. In 1919 when he knocked out Jess Willard in three rounds he became the title holder, and up until 1926 when Gene Tunney got the better of him, he had made over one million dollars in the ring.
