STEALER OF PEARLS

GAY LIFE IN FARIS (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association) PARIS, Monday. The magistrate lias committed Emile Seberac to prison to await trial on a charge of stealing a necklace of pearls worth £ 50,000, which he allegedly took while the necklace was in the course of post between London and Paris. The pearls were recovered. The magistrate said the necklace was not worth 15 sous to the thief, because the pearls were well known to all the dealers. The police allege that Seberac, who is a sorter, led a double life. They say he devoted his spare time to Stock Exchange speculations, and bought presents for women friends. He hired motor-cars and incurred heavy debts.
