Woman Preacher To Visit Dominion
MISS MAUDE ROYDEM LECTURER AND AUTHOR Preacher, author, lecturer—Miss Maude Royden is making a tour of the Dominion next month under the auspices of the British Commonwealth League. After her arrival in Wellington on May 7 she will tour the South Island, coming north via Hamilton and Rotorua, for meetings in Auckland on May 23 and 24. For the two meetings to be held in Auckland Miss Royden has chosen as
her subjects, “Can We Set the World Right?” and “Peace in the British Empire.” Miss Royden, who is daughter and heiress of the late Sir Thomas Royden, has given her life and a great proportion of her private fortune to preaching and the service of the poor. Miss Royden has been a social settlement worker in the slums of Liverpool, extension lecturer for Oxford, advocate of the suffrage cause, assistant minister at the City Temple, London, and is the author of several books, including “Beauty In Religion,” “Prayer As a Force,” and “The Friendship of God.”
