I ! SUCCESSFUL DANCE j With much gaiety and laughter the j Devonport sub-branch of the NavyLeague opened its 192 S season last evening with a, social function in Duder’s Hall, Church Street. The guests included the Mayor and Mayoress of Devonport, Mr. and Mrs. Aldridge, borough councillors, officers of H.M.S. Philomel, the only ship in port, and visitors from town. Autumn tints in the decorations were provided by chrysanthemums and cosmos-pink streamers shadowed by green creeper that divided the ceiling into triangles. Among those present were: Mrs. R. L. Cleveland, president, rose crepe de chine beaded in crystal ancl silver. Mrs. Farquharson, secretary, navy viola satin with gold lace insets. Mrs. Wrigley, black georgette and silver trimmings. Mrs. Cleal. black silk crepe frock. Mrs. Melvin, black crepe de cliine frock. Mrs. E. Aldridge, black net and oriental embroidered georgette. ! Mrs. ITovey, apricot pink satin and ; silver. Mrs. Lucas, scarlet and steel beaded j crepe de chine. Mrs. Bullimore, cyclamen taffetas and metalled lace. Airs. Sharp, black beaded and sequinned ; georgette gown. Mrs. Melvin, black crepe de chine, with rhinestone trimming. Mrs. McDuff. shell pink georgette with sequins. Mrs. Verran, black velvet trimmed gold. Airs. Oliver, blue crepe de chine and silver. During the evening Aliss J. Derron and Miss Bagnall contributed a number of much-appreciated items. The Kit Kat Band supplied the dance music, and Air. C. Farguharson controlled the floor. A Alonte Carlo, waltz was won by Aliss Israelsen and Air. J. Scarborough.
