BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS

NELSON SYSTEM FAVOURED Two schools which had held plebiscites on the Bible-in-Schools question and decided in favour of the "Nelson” system, applied for permission to introduce it, in letters to the Auckland Education Board to-day. At Mangere East, 52 parents were in favour of the system and 12 were against it. At Whitiora 200 parents were in favour, 81 against, and there were 13 informal votes. “This school is part of Hamilton,” said the chairman, Mr. A. Burns, referring to Whitiora. “They take a great interest in the Bible up there.” Permission was granted on the usual terms, that attendance of pupils and teachers should be voluntary.
