MR. ALEXANDER MdLROY Mr. Alexander Mcllroy, who died at the Auckland Hospital yesterday, at the apge of S8 fc was a resident of the Bombay district for 41 years. Born in Derry. Ireland, Mr. Mcllroy came to the Dominion G 3 years ago in the ship Louisa,‘and in Auckland he married Miss Margaret Jackson, who also came from Ireland. After working in Parnell, Mauku, Thames, Christchurch and Gisborne. Mr. Mcllroy took up a farm between Bombay and Paparata, living there ever since. His wife died 13 years ago. Mr. Mcllroy is survived by two sons and three daughters. MRS. SARAH COOKE An early settler of the Thames district, Mrs. Sarah Cooke, of Matatoke, Thames Valley, died at the age of 79. With her husband, the late Mr. Edward Cooke, she was among the first arrivals at the Thames goldfields. Mrs. Cooke is survived by three sons, Mr. W. Cooke, Auckland; Mr. B. Cooke and Mr. E. Cooke, Matatoke, and three daughters, Mrs. Brien and Mrs. Brown, Puriri, and Mrs. Anderson, Hamilton. ' MR. ROBERT ORMSBY (From Our Oxen Correspondent) OTOROHANGA. To-day. One of the pioneers of settlement in the King Country, Mr. Robert Ormsby, died early yesterday morning. Deceased, who was 76 years of age. had enjoyed a game of billiards on Saturday, and his health, though not good, did not indicate that death was so near. He was born at Honikiwi, and as a young man joined the cavalry at Te Awamutu, taking part in the pursuit of Te Kooti. During the premiership of Sir John Bryce, the late Mr. Ormsby and his brother John were employed on the scheme to survey and prepare for settlement the land which gradually became known as the King Country. Later, he farmed what was described as a homestead settlement at Raglan. Returning to Otorohanga, he went into business as a contractor, and became one of the best known and respected figures in Otorohanga. He will be buried to-mororw in the family cemetery at I bike to fra ra. near Pirongia.
