BUTTER AND CHEESE EXPORTS

LAST YEAR S FIGURES EXCEEDED (Special to THE SUN) WELLINGTON. Friday. From August last year to March of . this year, both inclusive, 2,284,382 boxes of butter were shipped from New Zealand, compared with 1,889,124 during the same period of previous season. In March 117,835 boxes «»l butter were consigned to London, compared with 218,572 during March. 1927: 48.038 to the West Coast ports of the United Kingdom, compared with 20,551 last year; to Vancouver, 15.100 compared with 3,350: Halifax, 10.000 compared with none last year; to New York. optional for London, 4,627 as compared with 19,923: Australia, 1,908 compared with 11,412 during March, 1927. Cheese shipments during March totalled 120,484 crates, compared with 114.251 during March. 1927; London took 98,763 compared with 95,052; West Coast ports, 20.672 compared with 18,940; Australia, S2S compared with 249. From August to March Australia sent 1,116.080 boxes of butter and 2,354 tons of cheese abroad, compared with 1,015.640 boxes of butter and 1.117 tons of cheese for the same period last year. In March 3 89,924 boxes of butter and 330 tons of cheese were sent, compared with 120,240 boxes of butter and 539 tons of cheese for March, 1927. The total imports into Great Britain during March were: Butter, 824,392 cwt: cheese. 218.58Scwt; compared with 549,064 c-wt of butter and 296,247 cwt of cheese during March, 2927.
