Sir Apirana Ngata, M.P., left for Wellington last evening. Mr. J. F. Mendelssohn, of Sydney, has arrived in Rotorua from Auckland. Mr. E. Casey, North Island divisional superintendent of railways, left by train for Wellington last evening. Major M. Miles, of the headquarters staff of the New Zealand Forces, left by train for Wellington last evening. Mr. W. G. Brian, manager for Colonial Motors, Auckland, returned from Wellington this morning. Sir Charles Skerrett, the Chief Justice, returned to Wellington last evening by the Limited. The Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Downie Stewart, has returned to V Wellington from Dunedin. Dr. and Mrs. Maskell were among the arrivals from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. W. Hislop, of Universal Films, has been recuperating at Rotorua after a serious illness. Mr. T. Ellis has been re-elected chairman of the Whangarei Hospital Board. Messrs. C. J. Tunks and A. B. Roberton will leave for Wellington this evening to attend the General Synod of the Anglican Church. The Rev. S. Weymouth, chaplain at Levuka, Fiji, has taken up his duties Mr- Weymouth was formerly vicar of Balclutha. Mr. A. H. Gaze, of Melbourne, chief representative of the British .Phosphate Commission, is visiting Auckland on his annual tour of the Dominion.
Mr. G. Bail don. Mayor of Auckland, will leave for Wellington to-morrow evening to attend a meeting' of the Mumcipal Associations’ executive. He will return during the week-end.
Archdeacon and Mrs. Simkin, Archdeacon and Mrs. McMurray, and Archdeacon and Mrfe. Hawkins, will leave for Wellington this evening to attend the General Synod.
Messrs. J. R. Rolleston, M.P., F. F. Hockley, M.P., and T. W. Rhodes, M.P., left for Wellington last evening by the Limited to attend the caucus of the Reform Party.
Mr. H. McFeely, who has been assistant master at Castlecliff School, Wanganui, for the past two years, has been promoted to the staff of the Papakura school, at Auckland.
Admiral Sir James Fergusson, brother of his Excellency the Gov-ernor-General, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning, and is staying at Government House.
General Sir George Richardson, who arrived yesterday from Samoa, left for Morrinsville this morning, where he will confer with the new Administrator, Lieut.-Colonel S. S. Allen.
Mr. H. S. Saunderson, advertising manager for John Court, Ltd., who left recently on a trip to Sydney, took ill soon after he arrived. He spent some time in hospital, but is now progressing satisfactorily.
The Bishop of Polynesia, the Right Rev. L. S. Kempthorne, will leave Auckland to-night for Wellington, where he will attend the General Synod of the Anglican Church. The bishop arrived by the Tofua yesterday.
Professor H. Belshaw was granted leave by the University College Council yesterday to attend the Industrial Conference opening in Wellington tomorrow.
