FREE ORGAN RECITALS
SERIES FOR f CHILDREN The first of the annual series of free organ recitals for school children was given in the Town Hall yesterday afternoon by Mr. Maughan' Barnett, the city organist. Mr. Barnett gave a short talk on the development of the organ, piano and harp. Then followed a programme of vocal, harp and organ music by Miss Freda Gaudin. Miss Mavis Grevatt and Mr. Barnett respectively. Mr. Leo Whittaker was at the piano. Among the selections given were the “Soldiers’ ■ Chorus” from “Faust” (Gounod), a. hymn, “Nearer, My God. to Thee.” Mendelssohn’s “Spring Song” and Paderewski’s “Minuet.” The recitals will be continued this afternoon and to-morrow.
