DOZEN “SHANDIES”
INTOXICATED DRIVER FINED (From Our Own Correspondent) TE AROHA, Monday. A charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car was preferred against William Alexander Land, in the Te Aroha Magistrate's Court. Evidence was given that ~ accused had crashed into a fence when intoxicated and damaged his car, which contained six gallons of beer and several bottles. A doctor later certified that accused was the worse for liquor, and unfit to drive. Land had admitted the consumption of “a dozen shandies.” Accused was ordered to take out a prohibition order. He was also fined £25 and his licence suspended for three months.
