GAZA MOSLEMS ROUSED
POLICE FORCED TO FIRE TACTLESS MISSIONERS (United P. A.—By Telegraph — Copyright.) (Australian P.A.—United Service) JERUSALEM, Saturday. The Moslems of Gaza, near Beersheba, sent a deputation to the district officer seeking permission to hold a demonstration against the recent conference of the International Missionary Council. The request was refused.
A rumour was spread to the effect that the members of the deputation had been arrested and 400 Moslems surrounded the police barracks, where there were only 20 policemen on duty.
An officer gave an order to fire, and two of the attackers were slightly injured and the attack fizzled out. This culmination of Moslem irritation is alleged to have been needlessly caused by a lack of tact among officials of the conference.
