To-day’s Recipe RAISIN SLICES jALF a pound of seeded raisins, one teacup tea ter, one * teaspoon cornflour , 2 oz currants, one dessertspoon sugar, one dessertspoon lemon-juice, half teaspoon mixed spice, flaky pastry . Chop the raisins a little, put them into a saucepan with most of the water and stew slowly, until the water is, almost absorbed; then add the cornflour mixed with the remainder of water and stir until thick . Add the currants, sugar, lemon-juice and spice and leave mixture to cool. Roll out some flaky pastry very thinly and sprinkle with fine sugar. Line a flat baking-tin with this, spread with the raisin mixture and cover with another piece of pastry. Mark across in fingers with the back of a knife, brush over with beaten egg and bake in moderate oven until thoroughly cooked and a golden brown.
