OVER £l,ooo MISSING
Road Board Officials Arrested
CHARGED WITH EMBEZZLEMENT FE clerk and assistant clerk of the old Tamaki Road Board were arrested to-day and charged at the Police Court this afternoon with embezzlement. The total defalcations are said to be over £I,OOO.
TTERBERT FREDERICK THOMAS GOODMAN,, a married man, aged 35, clerk of the road board, was charged with stealing £250 between November 3, 1927, and March 31, 1928. Chief-Detective Hammond said that the total defalcations in the case were £B4O.
Accused was remanded to appear to-morrow, bail being fixed at £SOO. The assistant clerk, Roy Herbert Fraser Arrol, f aged 25, was charged with stealing £ 230 during the same period. He was. remanded, to appear next Monday, bail being fixxed at self £3OO, and one surety of £3OO.
