REPAIRING C. A. LARSEN
BIG JOB FOR DUNEDIN (Special to THE SUE) DUNEDIN, Friday. The C. A. Larsen, mother ship of the Norwegian whaling fleet operating in the Ross Sea, which went ashore at Stewart Island, limped into Port Chalmers under her own steam early this afternoon. Next week the vessel will go Into the Otago dock, which has been specially lengthened to take her. Inside the hold along the starboard side the C. A. Larsen is a mass of tangled steel frames and twisted bulkheads. Several days will be required to make the C. A. Larsen ready to go into dock. The vessel js 527 ft long and 66ft 6in wide. When the survey has been completed tenders will he called for the work of repairing the ship, and an estimate of the cost of permanent repairs at Port Chalmers has been set down at about £50,000.
