IN FANCY DRESS l Although the charity bull held at ' the Click Clack last evening was not the financial success that had been hoped for, the dancers present spent a very bright evening, d is to the untiring efforts of Mr. Thorpe. The number of fancy costumes worn was very disappointing, but those who did w»ar them were very cleverly dressed. The prize-winners were: Mr. Alt. j Smith, replete with collapsible cane, bowler, big turned-up boots and the absurdly short jacket, who clowned and entertained with comical antics as Charlie Chaplin. Mrs. Ryan was a scintillating "Star,' ol' the Twinkle! Twinkle variety! “Lady Nicotine 7 ’ was an effective costume worn by Miss Polly Kelly. Little Joan Anderson and Trevor Froggatt. both aged four, were decidedly the hit of the evening as a tiny bride and bridegroom. They later changed into costumes for ‘Darby and Joan.” v The Rev. Jasper Caklcr, in thanking Mr. Thorpe for his effort on behalf of the Auckland City Mission, said bow disappointed he was that the affair had not been a greater success and hoped that the next one. that Mr. Thorpe intends to hold at an early date, would, more than make up for their present disappointment. Mr. Sinclair, of the Regent Theatre, presented the prizes. Mrs. A. Folliek, who acted as hostess for the evening, wore a black chiffon velvet model, with embroideded finish in shades of amber and gold. Among those present were: Mrs. Anderson, figured crepe de chine gown of powder blue and rose shades. Mrs. Fi-oggatt, beige rose crepe de chine gown. Mrs. Shoreland, black sequined net gown worn over black satin. Mrs. Thorpe, black crepe marocain model, with cherry pipings and black and gold lace flouncings. Mrs. Kodama, black satin sequined gown, with rose shoulder posy. Miss Judy Judd, ivory crepe do chine gown, with silver lace inset into the full skirt. Miss Edna Ward, black lace gown, with uneven liem, worn over flesh pink georgette. with petunia sash and shoulder posy. Miss Joyce Hansen, ochre tinted georgette frock, uneven hem line with yoke effect of gold lace. Miss M. Ivleinmann, delphinium blue satin gown, with chenille shawl. Miss R. Ivleinmann, rose pink crepe de chine frock, with bodice of silver brocade. Miss Wade, coral pink crepe de chine model, with tucked bodice. Miss D. Mairs, primrose taffetas, with uneven scalloped hem, and shoulder posy of jade green. Miss Leila Maher, black satin, with godets of silver lace inset and chic back tie with streamer ends. Miss Pat Lye, lavender taffetas, with dainty shoulder posy. Miss Roberts, hyacinth blue satin russe gown. Miss Shoreland, black lace frock, worn over silver lame. Miss Lois Scott, blue taffetas, bouffant stvle, with rose pink relief. Miss Audrey Walton, salmon pink satin frock. Miss A. Knight, ivory satin gown, with fringed skirt. Miss Geere - Watson (Wellington), mauve taffetas, with transparent hem of ecru lace. Miss C. Tanner, sequined net frock with ivory georgette skirt. Miss Kelly, blue georgette, with relief of silver. Miss Inskip, maize tucked georgette frock, with embroidered relief.
