CAR FALLS IN RIVER

MAORI WOMAN INJURED FALL OF FIFTY FEET Press Association. GISBORNE, Wednesday. A motor-car containing four passengers in addition to the driver went over the bank and into the river between Motu and Matawai last evening.

One passenger, Mrs. Wi Karata, received several injuries. A car driven by Douglas Emeny was conveying four Maori women from the Waikato to Tolaga Bay, and shortly before reaching Matawa the visibility was bad owing to mist. The car left the road., and hurled itself 50 feet down the bank into the river. Mrs. Karata was pinned beneath the car in the river, and was extricated with considerable difficulty.
