TOURNEY AT CARLTON FOURS NEARING FINALITY Three further rounds of the Auckland Bowling: Centre’s Easter lours tournament were played on the Carlton green yesterday. Favourable weather conditions and a good green were responsible lor some keen bowling. In addition to the third round, details of which were published yesterdav, the following rounds were decided: Fourth Round.—Keatley 22, v. Duffin 12: Osmond* 22, v. White 14; Davidson 16, Bray 15; Buckley, a bye. Fifth Round.—Buckley 18. v. Osmond I‘uffm 19, v. .Davidson 12; Keatley a 7.Y LYNN LOSES LIFE SIXTH ROUND DECIDED Play in tlie Auckland Bowling Centre's Easter fours tournament reached an interesting stage- at the conclusion of the seventh round this morning at the Carlton green, when Grey Lynn fell a victim to Rocky Nook. Until the playing of the round Grey Lynn was the only team having two lives left. The defeat reduces that four to an equal footing with Rocky' Nook and Carlton. Two more games are now necessary. Tile seventh round between Rocky Nook and Carlton began at 11.45 a.m. Grey Lynn drew the bye. The winner of the seventh round plays Grey Lynn for the final of the championship. Teams contesting the sixth round were: Hunt, Farley, Wakerley, Keatley (Rocky Nook) 20, v. Caddy, Liversidge, Buckley, Whittle (Grey Lynn) 11. - Buckley opened the score with a two in the first head, but Keatley then scored for seven successive heads, the score then being 10 to 2 in Keatley’s favour. Keatley’s team was plaving more consistent bowls. At the end of the 17th head, Keatley was 18 to Buckley’s S. On the ISth head Keatley was lying one when Whittle played a nice resting shot and moved the kitty sufficiently to move three. On the 19th head Liversidge drew dead to the kitty, and Buckley played to press the kitty further back, to count four. Whittle moved the kitty further and lay six. Keatley had a difficult draw, but played a magnificent bowl to count second shot. Whittle’s running shot was just a fraction narrow to displace Keatley’s bowl, and moved his own shot bowl, to leave Keatley one up, the score then being 19—11, with heads to go. On the 20th head the fame ended with Keatley scoring one. Outstanding players for Rocky Nook were Keatley and Farley, who both gave splendid exhibitions of considered play and sound judgment. Scores at various phases of the game were as follows: At the fourth head points were: Keatley 5, Buckley 2. At the eighth Keatley had increased to 10, but Buckley had not added to his figure. The 12th saw Buckley five, and Keatley 12. At the end of the 12th figures were eiglit .and 17 respectively. Buckley then went to 11 and Keatley to 20 at the finish CARLTON FAILS t The seventh round, played at Carlton green this afternoon, was also the semi-final of the Easter fours contest. The match turned out be a runaway victory for Rocky Nook, which defeated Carlton all along the line. After 17 heads had been decided, Carlton abandoned the game- the score being hopeless at 25 to 5 againsL Duffin scored only five singles. The teams were: Hunt, Farley, Wakerley, Keatley (Rocky Nook) 25, v. Cottrell. Taylor, Warren, Duffin (Carlton) 5. The final is being played between Rocky Nook and Grey Lynn. BENDIGO BOWLS CONTEST DRAW FOR WEDNESDAY Considerable interest is being shown in the competition for the Bendigo Gold Bowls, which, begins on the Carlton green next Wednesday at 8.30 a.m. As the best rinks from each club will take part, this contest will be practically a rinks championship. Although the contest is played on the knock-out principle, it is expected that play will occupy the greater part of two days. The draw for the first round is as follows: Otahiihu.. v. Carlton, Mount Eden v. Rocky Nook. St.- Heliers v. Stanley, Howick v. Waiuku, Avondale v. Auckland. Waitemata v. Pukekohe, Ponsonby v. Remuera, Devonport v. Hillsborough,
