CANDIDATES FOR APPEAL BOARD

AUCKLANDER SELECTED

For the two service representatives required on the Public Service Board of Appeal, Messrs. G. N. Morris, official assignee, Auckland, and A. S. Houston, Inspector of Offices, Department of Agriculture, Wellington, have been selected as official candidates by the Public Service Association. For the election, which will take place on the second Monday in May, section committees were asked to submit names of members who, in their opinion, should be considered in the final selection of candidates by the executive committee. As the result of the ballots taken, Messrs. Morris and Houston came out as the association’s nominees. Mr. Morris, who is a qualified solictor, has had 25 years’ service, of which five years were spent as resident commissioner at Niue, Cook Islands, where his duties included those of judge of the Native Land Court and High Court. He was chairman of the Auckland section last year, and was largely responsible for placing the Auckland section on its present excellent footing. Mr. Houston has also had 25 years service, and was for many years a member of the Wellington Section Committee. He was formerly a member of the Executive Council, and also Executive Committee, until transferred to Hamilton, where he reorganised the Waikato branch of the association.
