Infantile Paralysis.—A girl aged 14 died from infantile paralysis at Ashburton on Sunday. She became ill on Thursday. Street Beggar Gaoled. William Stewart Lee, aged 71. charged at the Police Court to-day with begging alms in the street, was sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment. Whangarei to Opua.—The Railway Department is running a further excursion to Opua from Whangarei on Sunday next at cheap fares. Particulars are given in this issue. Excursion to Waitomo. —Tlm BaJ Department intends running a further one of its popular day excursion trip 3 from Auckland to Waitomo Caves Sunday next at cheap fares. Particulars are announced in this issue. Sportsman Injures An Eye.—Whiio ! shooting with a companion at Maromalm on Sunday. Mr. Ernest Tixnperi ley, a settler of Ramarama Valley, got in the line of fire and his right eye was so seriously injured that it is feared he will lose the sight of it. Motorist Killed.—Mr. Thomas Robertson, farm manager, of Puketapu. was travelling from Waipukurau to Napier in a three-seater car this evening. when the car crashed through a fence and went down a bank on the Te Aute Hill. Mr. Robertson was killed. —Press Assn.
