Obituary

MRS. JANET RICHARDSON Another old colonist, Mrs. Janet Richardsop, died at her home at Epsom on Sunday, at the age of 87. Born in London, Mrs. Richardson, and her husband, the late Mr. James Richardson, came to Auckland in the ship Ida Zeigler in 1862. Just at the outbreak of the Maori War Mr. Richardson took up land at Clevedon and remained for 23 years in the district. After his retirement in 1884 he went to live at Devonport. Since her husband’s death in 1896. Mrs. Richardson has lived with a daughter at Epsom. She is survived by two daughters and one son, Mr. J. D. Richardson, of Epsom. The funeral took place at O’Neill Point Cemeter3 r this afternoon. MR. H. E. GRAINGER Mr. Henry Ebison Grainger, who died at Epsom on Sunday at the age | of SO. arrived in Auckland in the ship Chimborazo 51 years ago. For a short time Mr. Grainger lived in Wellington, but he spent the greater part of his life in Auckland, where he had a butchery business until he retired 20 years ago. For 20 years Mr. Grainger lived on the Great North Road, but at the time of his death was living at Kowhai Terrace, Epsom. His wife predeceased him six years ago. Mr. Grainger s survived by two sons, Mr. William Grainger, Sydney, and Mr. George Grainger, Epsom, and by one daughter, Mrs. A. Pooley, Grey Lynn. The funeral took place at the Waikumete Cemetery yesterday. MR. CHARLES ROBINSON An old resident of Auckland. Mr. Charles Robinson, died at his home Nelson Street, on Friday at the age of 68. Mr. Robinson arrived in Auckland by the ship Gertrude in 1563. He was a prominent member of several canary clubs and had been associated with the North Island Canary and Cage Bird Club since its inauguration. For many years he was a well-known Auckland tailor.
