GREAT OCEAN LINERS
ATLANTIC COMPETITION By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright , GENEVA, Saturday. The American branch of the Swiss firm of marine engineers, Brown Goveri and Company, has received an order from the American Government for the construction of six 36,000-ton steamers with a speed of 33 knots. The vessels are destined for a fourdays’ service between New York and Southampton, and are to compete with the proposed British I,oooft. monsters. The United States Government is to advance the necessary capital at a rate of 2J per cent, interest. —A. and N.Z.
